A Thousand Suns and Earth

I have said that the most valuable resource to be sought in Human explorations is the friendship of the people we meat who have learned true balance and harmony with the land they love. Well, some words close to these. The wisdom earned by a people who have evolved with a land is more precious that any object on Earth or in our Galaxy. Let us respect the sovereignty of those who may some day save Humanity from arrogance, ignorance and greed

A Thousand Suns tells the story of the Gamo Highlands of the African Rift Valley and the unique worldview held by the people of the region. This isolated area has remained remarkably intact both biologically and culturally. It is one of the most densely populated rural regions of Africa yet its people have been farming sustainably for 10,000 years. Shot in Ethiopia, New York and Kenya, the film explores the modern world's untenable sense of separation from and superiority over nature and how the interconnected worldview of the Gamo people is fundamental in achieving long-term sustainability, both in the region and beyond.

I believe science is a useful tool as long as we do not allow capitalism to exploit our findings prematurely. If wisdom is to be a part of Humanities evolution then science has to be subject to rules of sanctity and protections. We must hold sacred fundamental truths while always testing every assumption and "fact" for veracity as our knowledge grows. We should always look for other life that might be beyond our limited understanding because we are a young species. We are very young and we must learn humility if we ever hope to belong to a galactic community. But let us never let humility give way to timidity. We must always strive for sovereignty in all things because I believe the galaxy is a dangerous place where timidity would mean slavery and exploitation for us all..
